T'Wolves and Nets Clash at Barclays
The Minnesota Timberwolves (7-11) emerge from a five-game home stand with a 3-2 record, and have dropped two straight following 103-101 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. Karl-Anthony Towns led the charge for the club offensively, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds in 7-of-14 effort from the field. Derrick Rose, in the midst of a career resurgence in Minnesota, played off the pine to the tune of 20 points, four boards and four assists, going 6-of-11 from the paint and making all six of his shot attempts from the foul line. Robert Covington, acquired last week from the Philadelphia 76ers, logged 16 points and four triples, while Andrew Wiggins put up 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. The new-look Timberwolves squad still owns the eight-best offense in the league, averaging 109.5 points per contest, despite sitting in second-last place in the Western Conference. The team heads back home on Saturday to host the Chicago Bulls.

The Brooklyn Nets (8-11) have spent their last few outings trading a series of wins and losses, and spent Wednesday night on the receiving end of a 119-113 road loss at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. As they have for the past several seasons, the Nets sputtered defensively, and were led in scoring by Allen Crabbe, who dropped 27 points in shooting 10-of-16 from field goal range and 7-of-11 from deep. Spencer Dinwiddie contributed in a reserve capacity, posting 19 points and facilitating seven assists, while fellow sub Ed Davis and D'Angelo Russell recorded 17 points apiece, with Davis coming just short of a double-double behind nine rebounds. Caris LeVert remains sidelined following his gruesome right foot injury suffered last week, and is still slated for a February return. Brooklyn sits in ninth place in the East, just a game-and-a-half behind the struggling Boston Celtics.

Clippers Host Grizzlies at Staples Center
Winners of five straight and seven of their last eight, the Memphis Grizzlies (12-5) now find themselves in first place in the Western Conference, and spent Wednesday night edging the San Antonio Spurs on the road, 104-103. Mike Conley posted a team-best 30 points, dishing out nine assists, grabbing four boards and going 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Marc Gasol was the beneficiary of a double-double, his ninth of the season, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, making all eight of his attempts from the foul line in the process, while JaMychal Green came off the bench to produce 12 points and a pair of triples. The Grizzlies have succeeded despite having the most anemic offense in the NBA, averaging only 103.1 points per game. The team returns home on Sunday to host the New York Knicks, well-positioned to continued their improbable run in their young 2018-19 campaign.

The Los Angeles Clippers (11-6) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night at the hands of an unlikely team - the struggling Washington Wizards - 125-118. With 29 points and nine rebounds, Tobias Harris led L.A. on both ends of the floor, going 12-of-21 from the field and 4-of-6 from downtown. Harris is part of the reason why the Clippers own the best three-point shooting percentage in the league, averaging a collective 38.5 percent from deep. Montrezl Harrell had nine boards of his own off the pine to add to his 20 points, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put up 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in a starting role. Los Angeles has a tough weekend ahead of them, as they travel to Portland on Sunday to take on the second place Trail Blazers.

Rockets Look to Keep Streak Alive Versus Pistons
The Houston Rockets travel to Motown to play the Detroit Pistons at Little Ceasar's Arena on Friday.

The Rockets (9-7) early season swoon appears to be a thing of the past, as they come into this matchup in the midst of a five-game winning streak. The victories have been even more consistent than that, with the Rockets winning eight of their last 10 games in total. What's truly shocking with this team is their elite defense, with Houston sitting fifth in points allowed. What's also bizarre is the fact that the Rockers are playing at the second-slowest pace in the league, as they currently sit 22nd in scoring and 28th in assists. This is a Houston team who sat top-three in both those categories last season and it's crazy just how much the philosophy has changed for this team. Opponents should be horrified by the positive regression that's headed Houston's way too, as they should climb closer to those offensive numbers from last season with James Harden running the show. and Chris Paul getting healthier

The Pistons (8-7) come into this matchup winning four of their last six games, albeit the most recent loss coming against these Rockets. It was no defeat to be discouraged by though, as Detroit lost by two points in Houston. Blake Griffin had yet another astounding performance, as he collected 37 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in that defeat. That got his season averages up to 25.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, as he's stating a case for a start in the all-star game. Andre Drummond is also doing his job in the frontcourt, as they simply need more from their backcourt. Players like Reggie Jackson, Stanley Johnson and Reggie Bullock are playing below expectations and just a little more production from those players would make this one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference.

These teams just played on Wednesday, as Houston prevailed, 126-124.

Struggling Teams Face Off in Celtics-Hawks Matchup
The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Boston Celtics at State Farm Arena on Friday.

The Celtics (9-9) come into this matchup losing three-straight and seven of their last 10 games in total. What's really hurting this team is their inefficient offense, with Boston ranking 25th in scoring and 28th in offensive efficiency. The defense still sits third in points allowed, as that remains a constant for this team. Even with the dominant defense, Boston won't get out of this slide unless they improve those ugly offensive numbers. There are some promising signs though, as Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving are both showing signs of improvement over recent weeks. The most recent loss is especially discouraging though, as Boston took a home defeat at the hands of a five-win New York Knicks team on Wednesday. The Celtics were a double-digit favorite in that game and Boston fans have to hope that 's rock-bottom with a hit stretch right around the corner.

The Hawks (3-15) have lost nine-straight games, as that's currently the longest streak in the NBA. This losing extends longer than that too, with Atlanta losing 13 of their last 14 games in total. That's pretty much what people expected from this team though, as many experts had them pegged to finish with the worst record in the NBA. There are some young pieces to build around though, as John Collins recently returned from an ankle issue that kept him out the first two months. Pairing him up with a rookie breakout like Trae Young is all this franchise can do to rebuild and that's all Atlanta fans can ask for right now.

Boston won their four-game season series over Atlanta last season, 3-1.

Knicks Welcome Pelicans to The Garden
The New Orleans Pelicans travel to The Big Apple to play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

The Pelicans (10-8) record is nothing to be impressed by, although their numbers indicate that they should be better. In fact, New Orleans currently sits second in both assists and scoring while ranking fifth in rebounding. They also sit third in offensive efficiency, as this has become one of the scariest teams in the league. The Pelicans appear to be hitting their stride in terms of wins and losses too, as they've won six of their last eight games headed into this fixture. Anthony Davis will play with some fury after a tough game on Wednesday, as he missed a game-tying free-throw in the final seconds in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Davis actually struggled mightily from the field but he became the first player in three years to record a five-by-five line in that defeat. Recording a five-by-five line in a down game shows just how dominant of a player Davis is, as he's averaging 26.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.9 blocks per game this season.

The Knicks (5-14) come into this matchup losing six of their last seven games despite the fact that they've been playing better recently. In fact, New York picked up a rare road win in their most recent game, as they upset the Boston Celtics, 117-109, on Wednesday. Noah Vonleh has really stepped up in the last two games, as he's recorded back-to-back monster double-doubles. Trey Burke has been just as good, as he's averaging 25.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists off of the bench across the last four games. That's the player many expected to see when he came out of Michigan a few years ago and Knicks fans are just hopeful that he'll continue this stellar play. Finding a point guard is this franchise's goal, as they haven't had anyone special at that position in over a decade.

While New Orleans has won five of their last six games over New York, the last three fixtures have been decided by five points or fewer.

76ers Looking To Keep Rolling
The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers, at Wells Fargo Center on Friday evening.

The Sixers (13-7) are on a roll, as their new addition, Jimmy Butler, seems to be fitting in well. They dropped their first game together, but since then Jimmy and the 76ers have won four straight, including wins over the Jazz and the Pelicans. Butler has not yet put up huge numbers for Philly, but has come up super clutch on more than one occasion, helping the young team close out games. Butler is averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game, since joining the 76ers. Not to mention, Joel Embiid continues to be an absolute force, averaging 28.1 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 blocks per game, while Ben Simmons is averaging 15.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. Markelle Fultz (shoulder) will remain sidelined. This marks the third and final game of a home stand for the 76ers, who are a perfect, 10-0, at home this season.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers (2-14) have dropped three straight, as they continue on a very tough start to the season. The Cavs are 0-8 on the road so far, and have only been able to stay competitive through a couple of those games. George Hill (shoulder) remains sidelined, leaving room for Collin Sexton to gain more experience. So far, Sexton is averaging 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists, in 27 minutes per game. The Cavs remain severely disadvantaged, as Kevin Love (foot) remains sidelined and J.R. Smith, who has requested a trade, will not be active. Rodney Hood has been one of Cleveland's better scorers so far, averaging 12.6 points per game. Cedi Osman is also working hard, averaging 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

First-Place Raptors Host 10th-Place Wizards
The Toronto Raptors play host to the Washington Wizards, at Scotiabank Arena on Friday evening.

The Raptors (15-4) have won three in a row, as they continue to impress early on with their new-look lineup. Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green have been very solid for Toronto, while Kyle Lowry has been playing out of his mind, and the bench continues to offer valuable contributions, resulting in the top record in the NBA. Lowry is averaging 15.4 points, 10.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, including a triple-double in his last outing. Leonard is averaging 24.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals, in 33.4 minute per game for Toronto. However, Leonard has been rested on one game of back-to-backs, as he eases back into routine, after missing most of last season. Danny Green is averaging 9.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, but his veteran presence has undoubtedly contributed to the team's confidence. Green even came up with a game-winner for the Raptors, with a mid-range jumper a couple of nights back.

Meanwhile, the Wizards (6-11) pulled off their most impressive win of the season in their last outing, as they came back from down by 20, to defeat the Clippers. The win was even more impressive due to all the drama surrounding the team lately, stemming from their heated practice, to rumors that no one on their roster is exempt from a trade. This marks the first game on the road after a five-game home stand for the Wizards, where they went 3-2. They are 2-6 on the road so far this season, and their troubled start has them sitting 10th place in the East, 2.5 games behind the eighth spot. Despite the troubles, John Wall has been putting up good numbers, averaging 21.5 points, 7.9 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while Bradley Beal is averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Heat Face Bulls In Windy City Battle
The Miami Heat takes on the Chicago Bulls at United Center on Friday evening.

The Heat (6-11) is struggling through its roughest season in quite some time, and they'll come into Friday's game having dropped three straight games, and six of their last seven overall. Miami's most recent stumble came at home against the Brooklyn Nets, which toppled them by a 104-92 score on Tuesday night. Hassan Whiteside led the way for the Heat with a 21-point, 23-rebound double-double. Josh Richardson contributed 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Rodney McGruder mustered 15 points, five boards and four assists. Justise Winslow totaled 10 points, two rebounds and one assist off the bench. Wayne Ellington contributed nine points.

The Heat are expected to be without both Goran Dragic (knee) and Tyler Johnson (hamstring) in their backcourt on Friday. Dion Waiters (ankle) will also be out, while Whiteside (knee) and McGruder (undisclosed) will be listed as questionable.

The Bulls (5-13) have encountered plenty of struggles in their own right, and they'll come into Friday's game having dropped four of their last five games. However, their one success during that stretch came during their most recent time on the court, as they defeated the Phoenix Suns by a 124-116 score on Wednesday night. Zach LaVine led the way with 29 points and added six assists. Jabari Parker followed with 20 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Ryan Arcidiacono, Wendell Carter, Jr. and Antonio Blakeney all generated 14-point efforts. Justin Holiday posted 11 points, four rebounds and one assist.

The Bulls will continue to be without the quartet of Kris Dunn (knee), Lauri Markkanen (elbow), Denzel Valentine (ankle) and Bobby Portis (knee) on Friday. Chandler Hutchinson (back) will be a game-time decision.

The Heat won three of the four games between the teams during the 2017-18 campaign.

Spurs Looking To Bounce Back After Tough Loss
The Indiana Pacers play host to the San Antonio Spurs, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

The Pacers (11-7) have been without their star, Victor Oladipo (knee), for the last two games but still managed to pull off a win, before they fell in their most recent contest. Oladipo remains questionable for action on Friday. Luckily for the Pacers, they have two very solid back-up guards in Cory Joseph and Tyreke Evans, that can pick up the slack if Oladipo remains out. Domantas Sabonis has been a great boost off the bench for Indiana, as he is averaging 14.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists, in 24 minutes per game. Sabonis is actually leading the league in field-goal percentage, as he is shooting 69.6 percent from the field. The Pacers have won their last three home games, and are 6-3 at home this season. They sit fourth place in the East, 3.5 games behind the first seed.

Meanwhile, the Spurs (8-9) have lost two straight. First, they were simply outdone by the Pelicans in New Orleans, but their most recent loss was a heartbreaker, as they lost, 104-103, at home against the Grizzlies. The contest concluded as DeMar DeRozan hit what would have been a game-winner, before it was nullified by a couple of free throws awarded to Memphis in the final seconds. Nonetheless, DeRozan has been great for the Spurs, averaging 24.9 points on 48 percent shooting, 6.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. LaMarcus Aldridge has been playing at an All-Star level as well, averaging 17.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. This marks the first game of a four-game road trip for the Spurs, who are just 2-6 on the road this season. They sit 11th place in the crowded West, 1.5 games behind eighth place.

Hornets Take On Thunder In Road Showdown
The Charlotte Hornets take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Friday evening.

The Hornets (9-8) had recently hit a bit of a rough patch with three losses in four games, but they've bounced back to win two straight coming into Friday's contest. Their most recent success came at the expense of the Indiana Pacers, which they toppled by a 127-109 score on Wednesday evening. Jeremy Lamb led the way for the Hornets with 21 points, a total he supplemented with seven rebounds and four assists. Dwayne Bacon enjoyed extended time off the bench and collected 18 points, six rebounds and three assists over 25 minutes. Kemba Walker generated a 16-point, 11-assist double-double that also included two rebounds and one steal. Cody Zeller and Malik Monk posted matching 15-point tallies. Nicolas Batum and Frank Kaminsky each had 11.

The Hornets will be without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (ankle) on Friday. Willy Hernangomez is listed as probable with an ankle issue of his own.

The Thunder (11-6) have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA during the month of November, and they bounced back from a rare loss with a 123-95 win over the Warriors on Wednesday. Dennis Schroder led the way with 32 points, a total he supplemented with four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Paul George provided 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Steven Adams had a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double. Russell Westbrook saw a scoring downturn but still managed an 11-point, 13-assist, 11-rebound triple-double over 33 minutes. Jerami Grant managed a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.

The Thunder will be without Andre Roberson (kneecap) and Hamidou Diallo (ankle) for Friday's game. Terrance Ferguson (ankle) and Alex Abrines (illness) both project as game-time decisions.

The two teams split the two-game season series during the 2017-18 campaign.

Suns Battle Bucks In Midwest Showdown
The Phoenix Suns take on the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on Friday evening.

The Suns (3-14) have an unsightly record, but they've played multiple quality teams very competitively thus far. They also acquitted themselves in defeat against a fellow rebuilding squad in the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Phoenix dropped a 124-116 decision to Chicago, the Suns' third straight loss. Devin Booker led the way with 23 points, a total he supplemented with six assists, two rebounds and three steals. T.J. Warren contributed 21 points, four rebounds and one assist. Deandre Ayton produced an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double that also included five assists. Jamal Crawford led the second unit with 16 points, while Richaun Holmes posted 14 off the bench as well.

The Suns will come into Friday's game at full health.

The Bucks' dominant 13-4 record speaks for itself, and Milwaukee has proven especially impressive on their home floor. The Bucks have dropped just one game at Fiserv Forum all season, and they toppled the Portland Trail Blazers by a 143-100 score in their most recent contest on Wednesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 33 points and also contributed 16 rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Khris Middleton followed with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon generated matching 16-point efforts. Christian Wood and Thon Maker both chipped in 11 points off the bench, while pulling down five and eight rebounds, respectively.

The Bucks will be without John Henson (wrist) on Friday. D.J. Wilson (hamstring) and Donte DiVincenzo (knee) will likely be listed as questionable.

The Bucks swept the two-game season series between the clubs during the 2017-18 campaign.

Magic, Nuggets Clash at Pepsi Center
The Orlando Magic will visit the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center on Friday evening.

Friday's visit to Denver will be the start of a five-game road trip for the Magic (9-9), who are off to a strong start to the season. After finding themselves in the lottery for the last several seasons, the Magic currently sit at seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. Orlando has won three of its last four games, with the lone loss coming by just two points at the hands of the powerhouse Toronto Raptors on Tuesday. In the loss, shooting guard Evan Fournier led the team with 27 points. Big man Nikola Vucevic added an impressive double-double, finishing with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Orlando has, thus far, found much of its success on the defensive end, where it is holding opponents to 108.6 points per game. That mark ranks ninth across the league.

Denver (11-7), meanwhile, has slumped significantly since starting the season 9-1. The Nuggets have won just two of their last eight games, though they did earn a 103-101 win in Minnesota on Wednesday. In the win, star center Nikola Jokic notched a rare double-double without reaching double-digit points, scoring just seven but tallying 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Veteran big man Paul Millsap added 25 points. Despite their recent slump, the Nuggets still rank in the top 10 in the league in both offensive and defensive rating. Jokic is also putting together a superstar-caliber season, averaging 17.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.

Trail Blazers Visit Slumping Warriors
The Portland Trail Blazers will visit the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena on Friday night.

For the first time in four years, Golden State (12-7) is in the midst of a four-game losing streak. With two-time MVP Steph Curry (groin) and All-Star Draymond Green (toe) out, the team has had a tough time maintaining its typical dominance. This came to a head on Wednesday, when a combined 54 points from Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson were not enough to avoid a blowout loss to Oklahoma City. The Warriors fell by a final score of 123-95, shooting just 43 percent from the field and making only seven three-pointers. Consequently, Golden State is in unfamiliar territory, sitting at just fifth place in the Western Conference standings. With Green still hurt and Curry scheduled to be reevaluated next week, it remains to be seen whether the Warriors can pick it up in their absence.

Portland (12-6), meanwhile, will finish a six-game road trip with Friday's visit to Golden State. The Blazers' current trip has not gone as well as they might have liked, as Portland is just 2-3 over the last five games. Moreover, Wednesday night saw the Blazers take their worse loss of the season, a 143-100 drubbing at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks. Portland simply could not contend with the length of Milwaukee, committing 17 turnovers, allowing 13 offensive rebounds, and giving up 15 three-pointers. Despite the underwhelming road trip, the Trail Blazers still enjoy a comfortable spot at fourth in the conference standings.

These two teams have not met so far this season, but the Trail Blazers have won the last two games between them. Golden State also seems to be a favorite opponent for Portland star Damian Lillard, who averaged 37.0 points per game in three contests against the Warriors last season.

Jazz Visit Lakers at Staples Center
The Utah Jazz will visit the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center on Friday night.

The Jazz (8-10) will take to the road for Friday's matchup. Given the team's 2-5 record on its home court, that may not be such a bad thing. Utah's early struggles have largely been a product of sub-par defense, an unusual trend for a team that has made stifling defensive play its identity over the last few seasons. Last year, center Rudy Gobert won Defensive Player of the Year by anchoring a Jazz defense that ranked top-five in the league in defensive rating. This year, however, the Jazz rank just 17th in defensive rating, and are allowing opponents to shoot 47.9 percent from the field - the third-highest of any team in the league. That became a problem in the team's most recent loss, a 119-110 defeat at the hands of Sacramento. In the loss, the Jazz allowed Sacramento to shoot over 51 percent from the field, including an 11-of-15 shooting night from big man Willie Cauley-Stein. Even a 35-point scoring outburst from star guard Donovan Mitchell could not put Utah over the edge. The team will look to bounce back as they take on another tough, up-tempo offense in Los Angeles.

The Lakers (10-7), on the contrary, have been on a roll recently. LA is 8-2 in its last 10 games and is scoring a whopping 116.2 points per game, good for fourth in the league. Of course, much of that success can be attributed to superstar forward LeBron James, who ranks second in the league in scoring at 28.9 points per game. James has been far from the only factor in the Lakers' recovery from their slow start, though. Sophomore forward Kyle Kuzma is building on his rookie success with another stellar season, averaging 16.6 points per game. The Lakers are fresh off yet another win, which came against James' former team in Cleveland.
