Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We have a potentially wild night ahead of us Wednesday with 12 games on the NBA schedule. Let's get right to it and highlight some players to consider for your entries, as well as a few to possibly avoid.

GUARDS

Stephen Curry, GS at WAS ($50): Curry is playing out of his mind right now. He's drained at least 10 three-pointers in four of his last five games, boosting his season average to a career-high 5.2 three-pointers. He's basically put the Warriors on his back, averaging 40.0 points on 23.4 shot attempts over his last 11 games. Look for him to have plenty of opportunities to stuff the stat sheet against a Wizards team that has played at the fastest pace in the league.

Coby White, CHI at CLE ($17): With Zach LaVine (COVID-19) out, the Bulls have turned to White for added production. He's started each of the last three games and responded with averages of 18.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists. Expect him to start again, which makes him an appealing option at such a reasonable salary.

Guard to Avoid

Malachi Flynn, TOR vs. BKN ($25): The Raptors have often played with a limited depth chart because of a combination of injuries and them resting players. That's opened up an expanded role for Flynn, who has scored at least 28.6 Yahoo points in eight of his last 10 games. However, Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby are all expected to play against the Nets, which should push Flynn back into a limited role.

FORWARDS

Joe Ingles, UTA at HOU ($20): The Jazz are currently playing without Donovan Mitchell (ankle), who is the clear leader of their offensive attack. His absence has opened up added playing time for Ingles, who has started back-to-back games. He couldn't have performed much better, scoring 49.6 and 31.3 Yahoo points, respectively. There is some blowout potential here, but Ingles should still play enough to have a favorable chance of providing value.

Davis Bertans, WAS vs. GS ($10): Bertans is on the floor to jack up three-pointers, and he's not shy about doing so. All 12 of his field-goal attempts came from behind the arc Monday, and he drained six of them on his way to 21 points. Although his contributions in other areas usually leave a lot to be desired, he could be asked to log more minutes, and take even more three-pointers, with Rui Hachimura (knee) out for this game.

Forward to Avoid

Robert Covington, POR vs. DEN ($18): Covington had another lackluster line against the Clippers on Tuesday, posting five points and five rebounds across 22 minutes. While he's still averaging 6.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks, his lack of involvement in the Blazers' offense has contributed to him scoring 27 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of his last 10 games. For a slate with so many other viable options, it's difficult to justify taking a chance on Covington.

CENTERS

Nikola Vucevic, CHI at CLE ($41): The Bulls acquired Vucevic to make a dynamic scoring duo between him and LaVine. However, with LaVine out, Vucevic finds himself in a similar role that he had as a member of the Magic, forced to carry the offensive load. He's responded by averaging 26.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists over the last three games. Expect him to have a high floor in this contest, as well.

Xavier Tillman, MEM at LAC ($12): Jonas Valanciunas (concussion) was unable to play Monday against the Nuggets, which forced Tillman into the starting five. He certainly made an immediate impact, posting 18 points and 14 rebounds on his way to 44.3 Yahoo points. Valanciunas is out again Wednesday, so Tillman could be well worth the risk in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Mason Plumlee, DET at DAL ($17): Plumlee has had an excellent season as the starting center for the Pistons, but with them in full tank mode, his role has been reduced. Not only has he been sitting out games for rest, but he's only averaged 21 minutes over his last six games that he has played. That's a far cry from the 27 minutes that he's averaged for the season. Unless he starts to play more again, his upside is going to be limited.
