30 Days, 30 Teams, 30 Facts: Charlotte Hornets

This article is part of our 30 Days, 30 Teams, 30 Facts series.

With the NBA on hiatus for at least 30 days, I'll be coping by posting an article every day with 30 random/interesting facts from each of the 30 teams. Hopefully, the season will resume when I hit publish on the Wizards' article.

Day four:

Charlotte Hornets

  1. Devonte' Graham takes just 18% of his shots at the rim, which is in the ninth percentile for point guards. Most of his shots (57%) come from three-point range -- the 96th percentile for point guards.
  2. Devonte' Graham's field-goal percentage at the rim (49%) is in the 11th percentile.
  3. Devonte' Graham has the highest net rating (+11.3) of anyone on the Hornets who has seen at least 200 minutes -- a difference that ranks in the 98th percentile.
  4. Terry Rozier is in the 93rd percentile for combo guards in non-corner three-point accuracy (133-for-330, 40%).
  5. Opposing teams score 7.0 more points per 100 halfcourt plays with Terry Rozier on the court -- a difference that ranks in the sixth percentile.
  6. Cody Martin's 1.10 assist-to-usage ratio is in the 94th percentile for wing players. However, his 15.8% turnover rate is in the seventh percentile.
  7. Cody Martin shoots 52% of his attempts at the rim, which is in the 93rd percentile for wings.
  8. Cody Martin is just 6-of-30 (20%) from the corner -- the first percentile for wings.
  9. Cody Martin gets 14.7% of available defensive rebounds off missed field goals, ranking in the 90th percentile for wings.
  10. Malik Monk is just 9-of-37 (24%) on corner threes, which is in the fifth percentile for wing players.
  11. Dwayne Bacon is scoring just 84.2 points per 100 shot attempts -- the third percentile for wing players. It's the second time in his three-year career that he's been below the 10th percentile in that measure of efficiency.
  12. Opposing teams shoot 3.8% fewer threes with Dwayne Bacon on the court -- a difference that ranks in the 96th percentile. They also shoot 4.4% worse from distance, and that difference ranks in the 94th percentile.
  13. Bismack Biyombo is 22-for-90 (24%) on mid-range shots, ranking in the seventh percentile for bigs.
  14. Bismack Biyombo draws a non-shooting foul on 2.9% of team possessions, ranking in the 92nd percentile for bigs.
  15. PJ Washington is in the 97th percentile for bigs in corner three-point accuracy (49%, 31-of-63).
  16. Opposing teams score 6.2 points fewer per 100 possessions with PJ Washington on the court (89th percentile).
  17. Miles Bridges has the lowest net rating (-7.6) on the Hornets of anyone who has seen at least 200 minutes.
  18. The Hornets have just three lineups that have played at least 100 possessions together. The best is +0.6 points per 100 possessions and includes Devonte' Graham, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, PJ Washington and Cody Zeller. The worst is -29.1 and includes Dwayne Bacon in place of Devonte' Graham.
  19. Hornets lineups with Terry Rozier at point guard have a -16.5 net rating in 1,594 possessions.
  20. Hornets small-ball lineups -- no Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo -- are -6.9 points per 100 possessions.
  21. Charlotte (for some reason) has 66 possessions of big-ball lineups that have both Cody Zeller and Bismack Biyombo on the court. Those lineups are -40.0 points per 100 possessions.
  22. In a 110-possession sample, lineups without Devonte' Graham and Terry Rozier have a +4.4 net rating. The offensive rating is 87.3, while the defensive rating is 83.0.
  23. Based on net rating, the Hornets have won four more games than expected, putting them on a pace for 24 wins, 0.5 more than their preseason over/under.

  30. Charlotte allows the second-most offensive rebounds (28.5% of opponent misses) in the NBA.
