FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Friday's NBA slate is an extensive one, with 10 games on tap beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern time. Read on to see which players stand out from the pack as value plays at their respective prices. FanDuel's format only counts the eight highest scores in your nine-player lineup, so keep that in mind when making your selections.

POINT GUARD

Lonzo Ball, LAL vs. LAC ($6,500): With Rajon Rondo (finger) joining LeBron James (groin) on the sidelines, Ball should have the ball in his hands much more than he's become used to this season. He thrived with the advanced responsibility with 20 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds in Thursday's one-point loss to Sacramento, and Ball's excellent passing and rebounding for his position make him a serious triple-double threat here given the circumstances.

Fred VanVleet, TOR at ORL ($5,500): With Kyle Lowry's back injury set to keep him out of this one, VanVleet should continue to reap the benefits that come from serving as the starting point guard for the powerhouse Raptors. While game-to-game consistency hasn't been his strong suit, VanVleet has still managed to eclipse 25.0 fantasy points in six of his past eight appearances while scoring as many as 41.0 fantasy points over that span. He's averaging 13.5 PPG during that stretch and should continue to put the ball in the basket at a nice clip here.

SHOOTING GUARD

Luka Doncic, DAL at NO ($8,500): Doncic is starting to gain some separation in the Rookie of the Year race, as Wednesday's near triple-double against the Trailblazers was his sixth performance of at least 44.2 fantasy points in the past eight games. Some owners might be spooked by the toenail injury he picked up in that contest, but Doncic is probable and likely won't see much of an impact, if any, on his play due to this minor injury. Those who aren't afraid to roll with him get the added benefit of a favorable matchup against a Pelicans team that surrenders 115.6 points per game – the fourth-most in the league.

Monte Morris, DEN vs. SA ($5,700): Morris isn't a household name, but he's certainly been producing like one of late. He's recorded between 25.7 and 36.7 fantasy points in each of the past seven games, averaging 14.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 5.1 APG and 2.3 steals per game over that span. Still priced at just $5,700, Morris should have no problem outplaying that valuation if he just hits his recent averages.

SMALL FORWARD

E'Twaun Moore, NO vs. DAL ($4,400): If you're looking for cheap roster filler to fit some of this slate's more expensive options under the salary cap, Moore's your guy. He's averaging 29 minutes of court time in the past five games and should continue to play a lot in New Orleans' thin front court while Nikola Mirotic recovers from an ankle injury. Moore has parlayed that playing time into three performances of at least 19.4 fantasy points in those five games, so you could certainly do worse if your primary goal is affordability.

Kelly Oubre, PHO vs. OKC ($5,000): Oubre's Suns career is off to a promising start -- he's scored 28.0 or more fantasy points in three of his first four games with Phoenix after coming over from the Wizards in a trade. With his new club already out of realistic playoff contention in the hyper-competitive Western Conference, the 23-year-old should continue to get plenty of opportunities to strut his stuff. His price likely won't stay this low for long, so grab Oubre at $5,000 while you still can.

POWER FORWARD

Kyle Kuzma, LAL vs. LAC ($7,200): As the Lakers' second-leading scorer, Kuzma was the logical choice to step up offensively sans LeBron, and that's exactly what happened Thursday. Kuzma poured in 33 points in that one while none of his teammates scored more than 22, while adding nine rebounds for good measure. Given the team's available personnel, Kuzma's capable of posting a repeat stat line here.

Jerami Grant, OKC at PHO ($5,700): Grant has been an excellent source of points and rebounds recently, averaging 16.2 PPG and 5.2 RPG over the past six games, including at least seven boards in each of the last three. He's chipping in a healthy dose of hustle stats as well, with five steals and 11 blocks over that stretch. Grant's set up for further success against a Suns team that allows the seventh-most points at 113.6 and sixth-most rebounds at 55.0, and he would likely see even greater responsibility on offense should Paul George's quadriceps injury keep the fellow Thunder forward sidelined.

CENTER

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN vs. ATL ($9,600): The Hawks are the league's most generous team defensively at 118.2 points allowed per game and third-easiest to exploit on the glass with 56.4 rebounds per game. Towns is a walking double-double with season averages of 20.9 PPG and 11.6 RPG, plus he just showed off his ability to demolish weak competition with a 20-point, 20-rebound outing against the Bulls in his last game. Given KAT's monstrous upside, it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up among the scoring leaders in this slate.
