Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We'll have lots of stars in action across the NBA on Saturday with seven games on the schedule. In order to fit some of them into your Yahoo entry, you'll need to find the right mix with cheaper value plays. Here are some players across the price scale to consider for your lineup, as well as a few to possibly avoid.

GUARDS

Jrue Holiday, NO at WAS ($39): Holiday has been about as consistent as a player can get, scoring at least 40.1 Yahoo points in 15 of 19 games. He gets a ton of playing time at 36 minutes a night and his assist totals have been elevated with Elfrid Payton (finger) out. This should be a high-scoring game between two teams that are in the top-six in the league in pace of play, so don't hesitate to add Holiday to your entry.

Bogdan Bogdanovic, SAC at GS ($11): After missing the beginning of the season due to a knee injury, Bogdanovic has come off of the bench in all seven games in which he has played. That hasn't stopped him from scoring at least 22.5 Yahoo points in four of his last five games. Another encouraging sign is that he logged a season-high 30 minutes in his last game Wednesday against the Jazz. His 24 percent usage rate is tied for third-highest on the team, leaving him with the potential for plenty of upside at this price in tournament play.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Gordon, HOU at CLE ($18): Gordon is off to a rough start, shooting just 32.4 percent from the field and 24.3 percent from behind the arc. The bulk of his contributions normally coming in the scoring column, so it's not that surprising that his poor shooting has resulted in him scoring 22.5 Yahoo points or fewer in six straight games. Until he shows signs of turning things around, the risk might not be worth the potential reward here.

FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, GS vs. SAC ($53): The Warriors finally broke their four-game losing streak with a decisive win over the Blazers on Friday. Durant led the way, scoring 62.1 Yahoo points across 38 minutes. With the Warriors continuing to play shorthanded, Durant has scored at least 51.3 Yahoo points in each of his last three games. Considering the Kings play at the second-fastest pace (106.1 possessions per game), Durant should have another tremendously high ceiling Saturday.

Jeff Green, WAS vs. NO ($11): While Green might not be a flashy option, his contributions off the bench for the Wizards should not be ignored. He's scored at least 20.2 Yahoo points in seven of his last eight games despite logging at least 30 minutes only one time during that stretch. His playing time is fairly secure even if Dwight Howard (lower body) returns Saturday, making Green a great option in tournament play.

Forward to Avoid

Dario Saric, MIN vs. CHI ($17): Saric was averaging 31 minutes a game with the Sixers, but doesn't find himself in a great situation with the Timberwolves splitting minutes with Taj Gibson. He's only averaging 24 minutes a game with his new squad, leaving him to score 19.1 Yahoo points or fewer in three of five contests. Although he's not overly expensive, his lack of upside leaves him with very little appeal.

CENTERS

Clint Capela, HOU at CLE ($31): Capela destroyed the Pistons on Friday for 29 points, 21 rebounds, three blocks and two steals. He was aided by the game going into overtime, but Capela has actually scored at least 56 Yahoo points in three straight contests. James Harden and Chris Paul might grab all the headlines in Houston, but Capela is almost as important to their success. With very little size behind him on the depth chart, Capela provides a high-floor option for your entry.

Tristan Thompson, CLE vs. HOU ($20): Speaking of teams with a lack of size, the Cavaliers don't have much outside of Thompson. After averaging just 20 minutes a game last year, he's averaging 29 minutes per contest this season. Don't count on him for much outside of points and rebounds, but he's still scored at least 27 Yahoo points in seven of his last eight games. There aren't a ton of great cheap options at center, but Thompson stands out as one to consider.

Center to Avoid

Wendell Carter Jr., CHI at MIN ($20): Carter had his hands full with Hassan Whiteside on Friday, which ended with Carter fouling out in just 14 minutes. Although the two have very different styles, things won't get much easier for Carter on Saturday facing Karl-Anthony Towns. After scoring 27.8 Yahoo points or fewer in six straight games, it might make more sense to avoid Carter and roll with Thompson, or even Willie Cauley-Stein ($20), if you want to save money at center.
