Weekly Hitter Rankings: Let's Play Two

This article is part of our Weekly Hitter Rankings series.

Buckle up, things are about to get even more interesting. There are four scheduled doubleheaders this week with the chance for more. There's a theory that loading up on Cardinals could yield more at-bats. but I'm not so sure. It'll happen, but not many Redbirds will play both ends of their many twin bills, so they'll probably lose at least one, maybe two, at-bats in a seven-inning affair. Further, they'll need rest days, so what appears to be an eight-game week could be six, one with fewer at-bats.

As for the week, the Cardinals and Cubs have a pair of doubleheaders, leaving St. Louis with a nine-game week, provided their series with the Reds goes off as planned after work came out a Cincinnati player tested positive for COVID-19, forcing cancellation of their current series with the Pirates.

The Blue Jays and Marlins have a makeup twin bill, leaving them with eight games each. Both lineups are performing better than expected and should continue to flourish.

The Indians and Blue Jays are both slated to face five southpaws while the Braves, Reds and Royals will be inundated with right-handers as they're all devoid of lefty opponents this week.

For the week Aug. 17-23
