No baseball has been played in Taiwan for a full week due to a long string of rainouts, but we'll go ahead with yet another game preview for a game which may or may not happen while fighting the temptation to drift into existential musing. Both teams have switched up their expected starting pitchers ahead of this contest, which is set to feature last year's best pitcher against this year's top arm. The Guardians' Henry Sosa has a strong claim to the former title based on his performances in 12 starts last season, where he cruised to a 1.56 ERA and an 0.81 WHIP. It's been another story entirely this season, however, as three straight poor starts have sent his ERA and WHIP skyrocketing to 6.83 and 1.66, respectively. Brothers lefty Ariel Miranda has been the best pitcher in the league by some margin this season. His 2.08 ERA and 1.05 WHIP look good even without context, but given that league-wide offense has exploded this season, sending the league's overall ERA ballooning to 6.32, those numbers are even better than they look.

Ariel Miranda, Brothers: A case for betting on a Henry Sosa bounceback can certainly be made, but Miranda has been so elite this season that it's hard to justify not selecting him. He's an excellent captain choice, even in a league where selecting a pitcher as captain can be a risky move.
Su Wei-Ta, Brothers: The 29-year-old first baseman seems to be in the middle of a breakout campaign, as his .378 batting average is over 100 points better than his previous career high (not counting his four-game debut back in 2015). He's scored 22 runs and driven in 22 more in 24 games.
Chang Chih-Hao, Brothers: Chang makes a similarly strong case for one of your captain slots. His .367 batting average narrowly trails Su's .378 mark, while he leads the team with 25 RBI.
Shen Hao-Wei, Guardians: Selecting the expensive Miranda means we need to load up on cheap options elsewhere, especially with our mandatory three Guardians slots. Shen fits that bill well at just 8.5 credits. A part-time player, he's started two of the Guardians' last three games, grabbing five hits and scoring five runs in those contests.
