Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Get ready for a busy night with 15 games on the schedule Tuesday. We'll have no shortage of options to sift through on Yahoo, which can sometimes make filling out your lineup a daunting task. Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are some of the better players to target based on their matchups.

Pitching Overview

Considering he was facing the lowly Tigers, Trevor Bauer ($49) allowing three runs over 6.2 innings in his last start wasn't exactly great. However, he helped salvage his night with 10 strikeouts, marking his third double-digit strikeout performance in his last five starts. He'll be facing a Blue Jays team that has struck out the eighth-most times (921) in baseball, leaving him with the potential for another meaty stat line.

Chris Paddack ($44) continues to shine for the Padres with his 2.70 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He has been a bit lucky based on his 3.75 FIP and .209 opponents' BABIP, but he's also been an asset with his 27.1 percent strikeout rate and 5.4 percent walk rate. This will mark his second start of the season against the Mets, who he shut out while recording 11 strikeouts over 7.2 innings the first time they faced each other. While he's not cheap, he makes for a great option for their rematch.

The Orioles have a 77 wRC+ on the road, bringing Merrill Kelly ($41) into the discussion for cheaper options at starting pitcher. Normally he doesn't come with a ton of upside based on his 4.25 FIP and 18.9 percent strikeout rate. However, he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts, so he could provide value at this price.

Key Values/Chalk

Jason Vargas might not be overly impressive with his 4.25 ERA and 4.82 FIP, but it marks a significant improvement compared to last season. One problem with him is that he's been prone to giving up home runs, including eight of them over his last six starts. That could end up being his downfall against the Padres, who have some dangerous power bats in Manny Machado ($25), Fernando Tatis Jr. ($24) and Franmil Reyes ($14).

At first glance, Dakota Hudson might not look like a pitcher to attack based on his 3.57 ERA. However, his supporting stats paint a different picture of his performance. He has a 5.15 FIP, 1.51 WHIP and a pedestrian 16.5 percent strikeout rate. Left-handed hitters have a .380 wOBA against him, which could put him in trouble against the Pirates. They have a couple of dangerous lefties in Corey Dickerson ($14) and Colin Moran ($13) to go along with the switching-hitting duo of Josh Bell ($18) and Bryan Reynolds ($16).

The White Sox don't have many quality options in the starting pitching department. They are expected to start Dylan Covey once again, who has been awful with his 5.67 FIP and 1.58 WHIP. The Marlins aren't normally a lineup to pursue, but this could be the night to roll with the likes of Garrett Cooper ($22), Brian Anderson ($18) and Starlin Castro ($17). After struggling for much of the season, Castro has finally started to come to life by hitting 23-for-73 (.315) with three home runs and four doubles over his last 18 games.

Stacks

Diamondbacks vs. Dylan Bundy (Orioles)

Ketel Marte (OF - $24), Eduardo Escobar (2B - $21), Christian Walker (1B - $21)

After a brief stint on the IL, Bundy will make his return for the Orioles. He's been DFS gold to stack against with his 5.32 FIP and 1.37 WHIP. Add in that he's allowed 2.1 HR/9 and it doesn't get much better for a Diamondbacks stack. Even though this trio won't come cheap, they all carry significant power upside. Don't be afraid to pay up for their services.

Braves vs. Danny Duffy (Royals)

Ronald Acuna Jr. (OF - $24), Ozzie Albies (2B - $17), Dansby Swanson (SS - $16)

The Braves have a favorable interleague matchup against the Royals and Duffy, who has once again struggled with his 4.85 FIP and 1.39 WHIP. Acuna is on top of his game right now, hitting 31-for-98 (.316) with seven home runs and 12 steals across his last 25 contests. Albies has a 166 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers while Swanson has also performed well against them with his .365 wOBA.

Indians vs. Aaron Sanchez (Blue Jays)

Francisco Lindor (SS - $21), Jose Ramirez (3B - $23), Tyler Naquin (OF - $22)

It's going to be hard for the Blue Jays to get anything of significance on the trade market for Sanchez, who has been a disappointment with his 6.26 ERA and 5.51 FIP. His WHIP checks in at a bloated 1.75, leaving the Indians with plenty of upside. Lindor has a .366 wOBA against right-handed pitchers while Ramirez has finally turned his season around by hitting 30-for-89 (.337) with five home runs and nine doubles over his last 23 games. Naquin has been no slouch either, hitting 19-for-48 (.396) with three home runs and seven doubles across his last 14 games.
